We are building our second hydrogen factory in Terneuzen, on a site of 30,000 m2 on the Axelse Vlakte. The location on the Belgian-Dutch border offers opportunities for cross-border cooperation.

Just like in Vlissingen, we will start producing 25MW of hydrogen in Terneuzen. The planning phase has been completed and we received the necessary permits in April 2022. The hydrogen will be stored on site.

In an initial phase, we will produce a minimum of 2,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year. But the design of the hydrogen installation allows for a future expansion to a minimum of 100 MW.

The site, located within North Sea Port, is very well served by road, rail, the North Sea and inland waterways. This will allow us to quickly distribute the hydrogen to potential customers. Industrial companies in the port are already showing an interest in our green hydrogen to reduce their CO2 emissions. In addition, in the coming years, North Sea Port wants to develop the Axelse Vlakte into a cluster for the production of advanced biofuels. This offers opportunities for interesting, local partnerships.
